About

ACTRAPID PENFIL 10S contains human insulin (soluble insulin), a short-acting insulin used for the treatment of diabetes mellitus. This formulation is designed to be administered subcutaneously, typically 15-30 minutes before a meal, to control post-meal blood glucose excursions. As a short-acting insulin, it has a rapid onset of action, usually within 30 minutes, and its peak effect occurs between 1.5 to 3.5 hours, with a total duration of action of approximately 7-8 hours. ACTRAPID is a clear solution that can also be administered intravenously in emergency situations, such as diabetic ketoacidosis or hyperosmolar hyperglycemic state. The Penfill cartridges are designed for use with compatible insulin pens, offering convenience and ease of administration for patients requiring mealtime insulin coverage or correction doses to achieve optimal glycemic control.
