About

DEXACORT N E/D is a combination ophthalmic/otic preparation containing Dexamethasone, a potent corticosteroid, and Neomycin, an aminoglycoside antibiotic. Dexamethasone provides anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects, reducing swelling, redness, itching, and allergic reactions in the eye or ear. It works by inhibiting the release of inflammatory mediators and suppressing the immune response.

Neomycin is included to provide broad-spectrum antibacterial coverage against susceptible Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria that commonly cause ocular or otic infections. This combination is particularly useful in treating inflammatory conditions of the eye or ear where there is a risk or presence of bacterial infection. Proper administration is crucial to minimize systemic absorption and potential side effects.

Uses

  • Treatment of inflammatory conditions of the eye (e.g., conjunctivitis, keratitis).
  • Management of inflammatory conditions of the ear (e.g., otitis externa).
  • Post-operative inflammation and infection prophylaxis in ocular surgery.
  • Allergic conjunctivitis with bacterial infection risk.

Wash hands before and after use; avoid touching the dropper tip to any surface.
