About
Dytor Plus 10mg Tablet is a combination diuretic medication containing Torsemide and Spironolactone. Torsemide is a loop diuretic that acts on the thick ascending limb of the loop of Henle in the kidneys, inhibiting the reabsorption of sodium and chloride, leading to increased excretion of water, sodium, and potassium. Spironolactone is a potassium-sparing diuretic and an aldosterone antagonist, which works by blocking aldosterone receptors in the renal tubules, promoting sodium and water excretion while conserving potassium.
This combination is particularly effective in managing edema associated with heart failure, liver cirrhosis, and kidney disease, as well as in treating hypertension, especially when there is a risk of hypokalemia with loop diuretics alone. The addition of spironolactone helps to counteract the potassium-losing effect of torsemide, maintaining electrolyte balance. It also offers additional benefits in heart failure by blocking aldosterone's detrimental effects on the heart.
