About

FAROALFA CV combines Faropenem, a potent carbapenem antibiotic, with Clavulanic Acid, a well-established beta-lactamase inhibitor. Faropenem functions by disrupting bacterial cell wall synthesis, a critical process for bacterial survival, through its interaction with penicillin-binding proteins. Clavulanic Acid, on the other hand, acts as a suicide inhibitor, irreversibly binding to and inactivating a broad spectrum of bacterial beta-lactamase enzymes. These enzymes are often responsible for conferring resistance to beta-lactam antibiotics. By protecting Faropenem from enzymatic degradation, Clavulanic Acid significantly extends its antibacterial spectrum, making the combination highly effective against beta-lactamase-producing strains that would otherwise be resistant. This synergistic action makes FAROALFA CV particularly useful for treating complex and severe infections where bacterial resistance is a significant clinical concern, ensuring broader coverage and improved therapeutic outcomes.
