About

Geripod D contains Cefpodoxime, a broad-spectrum, third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. Its bactericidal action stems from its ability to inhibit bacterial cell wall synthesis. Cefpodoxime achieves this by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) located inside the bacterial cell wall, which are essential for the synthesis and maintenance of the peptidoglycan layer. This disruption leads to structural instability and eventual lysis of the bacterial cell, effectively killing susceptible bacteria. Cefpodoxime is active against a wide array of Gram-positive and Gram-negative pathogens, making it a versatile choice for treating various bacterial infections, including those affecting the respiratory tract, urinary tract, skin and soft tissues, and certain sexually transmitted diseases. Its oral formulation ensures convenient administration and good patient compliance for a complete course of treatment.
