About

Humulin N is an intermediate-acting insulin, also known as NPH (Neutral Protamine Hagedorn) insulin. It is a suspension of insulin complexed with protamine, which slows its absorption and prolongs its duration of action compared to rapid or short-acting insulins. NPH insulin typically has an onset of action within 2-4 hours, a peak effect between 4-12 hours, and a duration of action of 14-24 hours. It is used to provide basal insulin coverage, helping to control blood glucose levels between meals and overnight. Humulin N is administered via subcutaneous injection and is often used in combination with rapid- or short-acting insulins to achieve comprehensive glycemic control in individuals with type 1 or type 2 diabetes who require insulin therapy. Careful monitoring of blood glucose is essential to adjust dosing and prevent hypoglycemia.
