About

Micropenam is a carbapenem antibiotic, a class of highly potent beta-lactam antibiotics with an extremely broad spectrum of bactericidal activity. It works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to the rapid death of susceptible bacteria. Meropenem is highly stable to hydrolysis by most beta-lactamases, including extended-spectrum beta-lactamases (ESBLs) and AmpC beta-lactamases, which makes it effective against many multi-drug resistant pathogens. It is particularly valuable for treating severe and complicated infections, such as complicated intra-abdominal infections, complicated skin and skin structure infections, bacterial meningitis, and hospital-acquired pneumonia, especially when caused by resistant Gram-negative bacteria. Micropenam is administered intravenously, ensuring rapid and effective systemic concentrations.
