About

Onco BCG Injection contains attenuated live bacteria of Mycobacterium bovis, known as Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG). It is primarily used as an immunotherapy for non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC), including carcinoma in situ. When instilled directly into the bladder, BCG triggers a robust localized immune response, stimulating the body's immune cells, such as macrophages, natural killer cells, and T-lymphocytes, to infiltrate the bladder wall. This complex immunomodulatory action leads to the destruction of cancer cells lining the bladder and helps prevent recurrence and progression of superficial bladder tumors. BCG therapy is a well-established and highly effective treatment option for high-risk NMIBC, often administered after transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURBT) to significantly reduce the risk of disease recurrence and progression, thereby improving long-term outcomes for patients.
