About

Relipoietin is a recombinant human erythropoietin (rHuEPO) that stimulates erythropoiesis, the production of red blood cells, in the bone marrow. It functions identically to the naturally occurring hormone, which is primarily produced by the kidneys in response to hypoxia. By binding to erythropoietin receptors on erythroid progenitor cells, Relipoietin promotes their proliferation, differentiation, and maturation into mature red blood cells. This action effectively increases hemoglobin levels and red blood cell mass, thereby improving oxygen-carrying capacity and alleviating symptoms of anemia. It is particularly vital for patients with chronic kidney disease, where endogenous erythropoietin production is often impaired, leading to significant anemia. The pre-filled syringe formulation ensures convenient and accurate dosing.

Uses

  • Treatment of anemia associated with chronic kidney disease (CKD).
  • Treatment of anemia in cancer patients receiving chemotherapy.
  • Reduction of allogeneic blood transfusions in surgery patients.
  • Treatment of anemia in HIV-infected patients receiving zidovudine.
