About
SITAZIT M 50/1000 MG 10S is an oral antidiabetic medication combining Sitagliptin and Metformin, used to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Sitagliptin is a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor that works by increasing the levels of incretin hormones (GLP-1 and GIP), which in turn stimulate insulin release and decrease glucagon secretion in a glucose-dependent manner. Metformin, a biguanide, primarily reduces hepatic glucose production, decreases intestinal absorption of glucose, and improves insulin sensitivity by increasing peripheral glucose uptake and utilization. This synergistic action helps to lower both fasting and post-meal blood glucose levels, making it an effective option for patients whose diabetes is not adequately controlled by diet, exercise, and either Sitagliptin or Metformin alone.
