About
TERBINAFORCE 500M contains Terbinafine at a higher strength, an allylamine antifungal agent specifically designed for more severe or extensive fungal infections. Its mechanism involves the selective inhibition of squalene epoxidase, an enzyme critical for the biosynthesis of ergosterol, a vital component of the fungal cell membrane. This inhibition leads to an intracellular accumulation of squalene, which is toxic to the fungal cell, and a concomitant deficiency of ergosterol. The resulting disruption of the fungal cell membrane's integrity and function ultimately leads to the death of the fungal organism. This higher dose is often prescribed for stubborn or widespread dermatophyte infections affecting the nails, skin, and hair, ensuring potent systemic antifungal action.
