About
UDOSIS 1000 contains Ursodeoxycholic Acid (UDCA), a naturally occurring bile acid. UDCA works by reducing the cholesterol content of bile, thereby preventing the formation of cholesterol gallstones and gradually dissolving existing ones. It also has cytoprotective effects on hepatocytes and cholangiocytes, protecting them from the toxic effects of hydrophobic bile acids. Furthermore, UDCA modulates immune responses and improves bile flow. This high-dose formulation is primarily used in the management of primary biliary cholangitis (PBC), a chronic autoimmune liver disease, where it helps to improve liver function tests, reduce symptoms like pruritus, and slow disease progression. It can also be used for the dissolution of small to medium-sized cholesterol gallstones in patients who are not candidates for surgery, offering a non-invasive treatment option.
