About
Vonoprazan is a potassium-competitive acid blocker (P-CAB) that offers a novel mechanism for gastric acid suppression. Unlike proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), vonoprazan reversibly inhibits the H+, K+-ATPase (proton pump) in gastric parietal cells by competing with potassium ions. This competitive binding leads to rapid, potent, and sustained inhibition of gastric acid secretion, independent of proton pump activation.
