About

WINBP-20, containing Telmisartan 20mg, is an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB) primarily used for the treatment of essential hypertension. Telmisartan works by selectively blocking the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor in vascular smooth muscle, leading to vasodilation and a reduction in blood pressure. This action also inhibits the release of aldosterone, further contributing to its antihypertensive effects. Beyond blood pressure control, Telmisartan is also indicated for the reduction of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in patients aged 55 years or older at high risk of cardiovascular events who cannot take ACE inhibitors. Its long duration of action allows for once-daily dosing, contributing to patient adherence and consistent blood pressure management throughout the 24-hour period.
