About

Apritant 150mg Injection contains aprepitant, a selective neurokinin-1 (NK1) receptor antagonist, primarily used for the prevention of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV). It works by blocking the binding of substance P, a neuropeptide, to the NK1 receptors in the brainstem's chemoreceptor trigger zone and other areas involved in the emetic reflex. This action effectively prevents both acute and delayed phases of CINV, which are common and distressing side effects of highly emetogenic chemotherapy regimens. By targeting this specific pathway, Apritant provides a significant improvement in the control of nausea and vomiting, allowing patients to better tolerate their chemotherapy treatments and maintain a higher quality of life during their cancer therapy.

Uses

  • Prevention of acute chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting.
  • Prevention of delayed chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting.
  • Used in combination with other antiemetics (e.g., corticosteroids, 5-HT3 antagonists).
  • Management of nausea and vomiting associated with highly emetogenic chemotherapy.
