About
Coralan 5 mg contains Ivabradine, a unique bradycardic agent that acts by selectively and specifically inhibiting the If (funny) current in the cardiac sinoatrial node. This action leads to a reduction in heart rate without affecting myocardial contractility, cardiac repolarization, or blood pressure. By slowing the heart rate, Ivabradine decreases myocardial oxygen demand, which is beneficial in conditions where the heart is working too hard.
This medication is primarily indicated for the symptomatic treatment of chronic stable angina pectoris in adults with normal sinus rhythm who have a contraindication or intolerance to beta-blockers, or in combination with beta-blockers in patients inadequately controlled with an optimal beta-blocker dose. It is also used in chronic heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) in patients with normal sinus rhythm and a heart rate of 75 bpm or higher, in combination with standard therapy, including beta-blockers, or when beta-blockers are contraindicated or not tolerated.
