About
Cresemba (isavuconazonium sulfate) is an azole antifungal agent indicated for the treatment of invasive aspergillosis and invasive mucormycosis. It is a prodrug that is rapidly hydrolyzed in vivo to its active moiety, isavuconazole. Isavuconazole exerts its antifungal effect by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, an essential component of fungal cell membranes, leading to increased membrane permeability and ultimately fungal cell death.
