About

Cyphos 1gm Injection is a powerful alkylating agent, structurally and functionally similar to cyclophosphamide, employed in the treatment of a broad spectrum of cancers and severe autoimmune diseases. Its therapeutic action stems from its ability to form covalent bonds (cross-links) with DNA strands, which profoundly interferes with DNA replication, transcription, and repair mechanisms. This disruption is particularly lethal to rapidly dividing cells, including malignant cells and hyperactive immune cells, leading to their apoptosis and suppression of disease activity. The medication is administered intravenously, often as part of intensive chemotherapy protocols or for induction therapy in autoimmune conditions.

Given its potent cytotoxic and immunosuppressive properties, the administration of Cyphos necessitates rigorous monitoring of hematological parameters, renal function, and fluid balance to mitigate severe adverse effects such as myelosuppression, hemorrhagic cystitis, and cardiotoxicity. Prophylactic measures, such as adequate hydration and the co-administration of mesna, are often employed to protect the bladder from its toxic metabolites. Its efficacy in high-dose regimens makes it a critical component in conditioning for hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.

Uses

  • Treatment of various lymphomas and leukemias.
  • Management of multiple myeloma.
  • Immunosuppression in severe autoimmune disorders (e.g., vasculitis).
  • Conditioning regimen for hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.

  • Breastfeeding - Contraindicated; the drug is excreted in breast milk and can cause serious adverse effects in the infant.
  • Liver - Use with caution in hepatic impairment; dose adjustments may be necessary due to altered metabolism and increased toxicity.
  • Kidney - Dose reduction is required in renal impairment to prevent drug accumulation and reduce the risk of toxicity, especially hemorrhagic cystitis.
  • Lung - Monitor for pulmonary fibrosis or pneumonitis, which can be a serious, albeit rare, complication of treatment.
