DARBITOP-60 contains Darbepoetin alfa, an erythropoiesis-stimulating agent (ESA) used to treat anemia associated with chronic kidney disease (CKD) in both dialysis and non-dialysis patients. Darbepoetin alfa is a recombinant human erythropoietin analogue that stimulates erythropoiesis by the same mechanism as endogenous erythropoietin. It binds to erythropoietin receptors on progenitor cells in the bone marrow, promoting their proliferation and differentiation into mature red blood cells.

The longer half-life of Darbepoetin alfa compared to epoetin alfa allows for less frequent dosing, improving patient convenience and adherence.
