About

This medication combines esomeprazole, a highly effective proton pump inhibitor (PPI), with levosulpiride, a prokinetic and antiemetic agent, offering a dual approach to managing complex upper gastrointestinal conditions. Esomeprazole, the S-isomer of omeprazole, provides superior and sustained inhibition of the gastric H+/K+-ATPase pump, resulting in a significant reduction of stomach acid secretion. This is vital for the healing of erosive esophagitis and relief from acid-related symptoms. Levosulpiride, a selective D2 dopamine receptor antagonist, acts primarily by enhancing acetylcholine release in the enteric nervous system, thereby improving gastrointestinal motility, accelerating gastric emptying, and strengthening the lower esophageal sphincter tone. Additionally, its antiemetic properties help alleviate nausea and vomiting. This combination effectively addresses both acid hypersecretion and impaired gastrointestinal motility, making it a robust option for conditions like severe gastroesophageal reflux disease and functional dyspepsia.
