About
FAROZOX ER 300 TAB contains Faropenem ER, an oral penem antibiotic, which is structurally related to carbapenems. It exerts its bactericidal effect by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. Faropenem binds to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) within the bacterial cell wall, thereby preventing the cross-linking of peptidoglycan chains, which are essential for the structural integrity of the bacterial cell wall. This disruption leads to cell lysis and bacterial death. Faropenem has a broad spectrum of activity against Gram-positive, Gram-negative, and anaerobic bacteria, including some strains that are resistant to other antibiotics. The Extended Release (ER) formulation provides sustained drug levels, allowing for less frequent dosing and improved patient compliance. Its broad-spectrum activity and oral administration make it a valuable option for treating various bacterial infections, particularly in outpatient settings.
