About

Geftib 250mg Tablet is an antineoplastic medication that belongs to the class of tyrosine kinase inhibitors. It contains the active ingredient gefitinib and is primarily used to treat non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). NSCLC is a condition where abnormal and uncontrolled cell growth occurs in the lung tissues. This medication is prescribed for patients whose cancer has spread to other parts of the body, have specific abnormal epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) genes, and who have not undergone prior cancer treatment.

Some formulations of Geftib 250mg may contain lactose as an inactive ingredient. Individuals with lactose intolerance—who are unable to properly digest lactose, a sugar found in dairy products—may experience symptoms like bloating and abdominal discomfort. Inform your doctor if you have lactose intolerance before beginning treatment.

It is important to inform your healthcare provider if you have any kidney or liver conditions, vision problems, lung issues, or if you are taking blood thinners such as warfarin. Regular blood tests will be conducted to monitor your condition and avoid complications. Alcohol consumption should be avoided during treatment, as it may lead to dizziness.

This medication is not safe to use during pregnancy, as it may harm the developing fetus. Speak with your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or before starting this medication. A pregnancy test may be required before beginning treatment. Use effective birth control during therapy and continue for at least two weeks after the final dose. Breastfeeding is also not recommended during treatment, as it is unknown whether the drug passes into breast milk.
