About

GUDCEF D/S 30ML contains Cefpodoxime Proxetil, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. Cefpodoxime Proxetil is a prodrug that is hydrolyzed in the body to its active form, cefpodoxime. It exerts its bactericidal action by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to the disruption of the bacterial cell structure and subsequent cell death. This mechanism of action makes it effective against a broad spectrum of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including many common pathogens that cause respiratory, urinary, and skin infections.

As a third-generation cephalosporin, Cefpodoxime Proxetil offers enhanced stability against beta-lactamase enzymes produced by some bacteria, which often confer resistance to older antibiotics. The dry syrup formulation is particularly suitable for pediatric patients, offering a palatable and easy-to-administer option for various bacterial infections, ensuring effective treatment and good patient compliance.
