About
Holoxan with Uromitexan 1gm injection is a combination of an anticancer and cytoprotective medication, classified under alkylating agents and hemorrhagic cystitis inhibitors. It contains the active ingredients Ifosfamide and Mesna. This combination is primarily used in the treatment of certain types of cancers, including those affecting the soft tissues, germ cells, pancreas, and cervix. Mesna helps reduce the harmful side effects of chemotherapy, particularly protecting the bladder from inflammation.
This medication should not be used if you have a known allergy to Ifosfamide, Mesna, or any of the components in the injection. It may cause significant bone marrow suppression, leading to a reduced white blood cell or platelet count, especially after chemotherapy or radiation therapy. If you have recently received a live vaccine (e.g., for measles, mumps, rubella, or chickenpox), you should wait at least three months before beginning treatment with this drug.
Caution is advised when using this medication in individuals with severe kidney or liver impairment. Inform your doctor about any other medications, over-the-counter products, or herbal supplements you are taking, as they may interact with this treatment.
This injection is not recommended during pregnancy due to the potential risk of harm to the unborn baby. Your healthcare provider will perform a pregnancy test before starting treatment. Effective birth control must be used during the course of therapy and for at least two weeks after the final dose. Breastfeeding is also not advised during treatment, as the medication may be excreted in breast milk and could harm the nursing infant.
