About

ITRATUF contains Itraconazole, a broad-spectrum triazole antifungal agent used to treat various systemic and superficial fungal infections. It works by inhibiting the fungal cytochrome P450-dependent enzyme lanosterol 14α-demethylase, which is essential for ergosterol synthesis, a vital component of the fungal cell membrane. This disruption leads to increased cellular permeability and ultimately fungal cell death. Itraconazole is effective against dermatophytes, yeasts (like Candida), and various dimorphic fungi. It is commonly prescribed for onychomycosis, systemic candidiasis, aspergillosis, histoplasmosis, and blastomycosis. The "SB" formulation (e.g., ITRATUF SB 130) often indicates a specialized delivery system designed to enhance absorption and bioavailability, improving therapeutic outcomes.
