About

Cabozantinib is a potent, orally administered small molecule tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) that targets a broad spectrum of receptor tyrosine kinases crucial for tumor growth, angiogenesis, and metastasis. Key targets include MET, VEGFR1, 2, and 3, AXL, and RET. By simultaneously inhibiting these multiple pathways, cabozantinib effectively disrupts the signaling cascades that drive cancer cell proliferation, survival, and migration, thereby impeding tumor progression and vascularization. This multi-targeted approach makes it a valuable therapeutic option for various advanced malignancies, including medullary thyroid cancer, advanced renal cell carcinoma, and hepatocellular carcinoma, where these pathways are often dysregulated. While highly effective, its broad kinase inhibition profile also contributes to a diverse range of potential side effects, such as hypertension, diarrhea, and hand-foot syndrome, requiring careful patient selection and proactive management to optimize treatment outcomes.
