About

Knilonat 150mg Capsule is an antineoplastic medication containing the active ingredient Nilotinib, classified as a tyrosine kinase inhibitor. It is used to treat Philadelphia chromosome-positive chronic myeloid leukemia (Ph-positive CML), a form of blood cancer characterized by abnormal white blood cell production. This medicine is prescribed for both adults and children newly diagnosed with CML, as well as for those who cannot tolerate previous treatments or whose condition no longer responds to them, including Imatinib.

Do not take Knilonat if you are allergic to Nilotinib or any of its components. Inform your doctor if you have a history of heart conditions such as heart attacks, irregular heart rhythms, chest pain, stroke, or peripheral artery disease (claudication). Also, notify your doctor if you have liver or pancreatic disorders, or if you have low potassium or magnesium levels. It is important to disclose all medications you are taking, especially those for lowering cholesterol. Additionally, inform your doctor if you have or have ever had a hepatitis B infection, as this medicine may reactivate the virus, which can be life-threatening. Avoid grapefruit or grapefruit juice while on this medication. Let your doctor know if you are lactose intolerant, as Knilonat contains lactose.

During treatment, your doctor will regularly monitor your blood through lab tests to assess liver and pancreatic function, blood cell counts (WBCs, RBCs, and platelets), heart health (specifically QT interval), electrolyte levels, blood sugar, and lipid levels to ensure the medication is being well tolerated. If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, inform your doctor. Use effective contraception throughout the treatment period.
