About

Kyfil, likely a granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF), is a recombinant protein that stimulates the production, maturation, and activation of neutrophils from bone marrow stem cells. It plays a crucial role in managing chemotherapy-induced neutropenia, a common and serious side effect of many cancer treatments that increases the risk of life-threatening infections. By increasing neutrophil counts, Kyfil helps to reduce the incidence, severity, and duration of neutropenia, allowing patients to maintain their chemotherapy schedules and reduce the risk of febrile neutropenia. It is also used for other conditions involving neutropenia, such as severe chronic neutropenia and for mobilization of hematopoietic progenitor cells for collection.

Uses

  • Chemotherapy-induced neutropenia
  • Severe chronic neutropenia
  • Mobilization of hematopoietic progenitor cells
  • Neutropenia associated with bone marrow transplant

Directions For Use

This medication is administered as a subcutaneous injection, typically once daily. Your healthcare provider will instruct you on the proper technique for self-administration if applicable.

Benefits

  • Reduces the incidence and duration of febrile neutropenia.
  • Allows patients to receive planned chemotherapy doses on schedule.
  • Decreases the risk of serious infections during cancer treatment.
  • Enhances recovery of white blood cell counts after chemotherapy.
