About

Bisoprolol Fumarate is a highly selective beta-1 adrenergic receptor blocker, primarily used for cardiovascular conditions. It works by selectively blocking beta-1 receptors in the heart, which reduces heart rate, myocardial contractility, and cardiac output. This action helps to lower blood pressure, reduce the heart's oxygen demand, and improve cardiac function in conditions like chronic heart failure.

The 2.5 mg dosage is often used as an initial dose for heart failure management or for patients requiring a lower dose for hypertension or angina. Its cardioselectivity at this dose minimizes effects on the respiratory system, making it a preferred choice over non-selective beta-blockers for patients with co-existing mild respiratory issues.

Uses

  • Initial treatment of stable chronic heart failure.
  • Management of essential hypertension.
  • Treatment of chronic stable angina pectoris.
  • Improvement of left ventricular function.

Directions For Use

Take one tablet orally once daily, preferably in the morning, with or without food. Do not crush or chew the tablet.

  • Breastfeeding - Bisoprolol is excreted in breast milk. Not recommended during breastfeeding. Consult a doctor.
  • Liver - Use with caution in patients with liver impairment; dosage adjustments may be necessary.
  • Kidney - Dosage adjustments are required in patients with severe renal impairment.
