About

Minirin 0.1mg Tablet contains Desmopressin, a synthetic analogue of the natural antidiuretic hormone, vasopressin. It exerts its primary action by selectively binding to V2 receptors in the renal collecting ducts, which leads to increased water reabsorption and a reduction in urine volume. This oral tablet formulation is used to manage conditions characterized by excessive urine production or to improve hemostasis in specific bleeding disorders.

It is a crucial medication for central diabetes insipidus, where the body fails to produce sufficient antidiuretic hormone. It is also utilized in the treatment of primary nocturnal enuresis (bedwetting) and can be beneficial in managing certain types of mild hemophilia A and von Willebrand disease (Type 1) by increasing plasma levels of factor VIII and von Willebrand factor.

Uses

  • Treatment of central diabetes insipidus.
  • Management of primary nocturnal enuresis.
  • Temporary control of bleeding in mild hemophilia A.
  • Management of von Willebrand disease (Type 1).
