About

Montral Tab, containing Montelukast, is a leukotriene receptor antagonist primarily used in the management of asthma and allergic rhinitis. It works by blocking the action of leukotrienes, which are inflammatory mediators released in the body. By inhibiting these substances, Montelukast helps to reduce inflammation, bronchoconstriction, and mucus secretion in the airways, thereby improving respiratory function and alleviating symptoms. It is effective in preventing asthma attacks and controlling chronic asthma symptoms, as well as providing relief from seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis. This medication is not intended for the treatment of acute asthma attacks but rather for long-term control and prevention.

Uses

  • Prevention and chronic treatment of asthma.
  • Relief of symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis.
  • Relief of symptoms of perennial allergic rhinitis.
  • Prevention of exercise-induced bronchoconstriction.

  • Breastfeeding - Consult your doctor. Small amounts of Montelukast may pass into breast milk; monitor the infant for any adverse effects.
  • Liver - Use with caution in patients with severe liver impairment. Dose adjustment may be considered in such cases, and liver function should be monitored.
  • Kidney - No specific dose adjustment is typically required for patients with renal impairment, as Montelukast is primarily metabolized by the liver.
