Rebopag 25mg Tablet is an anticoagulant medication classified as a thrombopoietin (TPO) receptor agonist. It contains the active ingredient Eltrombopag and is used to treat low platelet counts resulting from primary immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) or hepatitis C (HCV) infection. ITP is an autoimmune condition where the immune system mistakenly attacks and destroys platelets—cells that help with blood clotting and maintaining blood vessel integrity. Low platelet levels can lead to excessive bleeding and easy bruising. Additionally, this tablet is prescribed for adults suffering from severe aplastic anaemia, a serious condition in which the bone marrow fails to produce enough new blood cells.
Rebopag 25mg should not be used by individuals who are allergic to Eltrombopag or any of its components. Allergic reactions can range from mild to severe, with symptoms such as rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, or difficulty breathing. The tablet is contraindicated in patients with severe liver impairment or active liver disease, as it may cause hepatotoxicity, evident through elevated liver enzymes and bilirubin levels.
