About

Rebopag 25mg Tablet is an anticoagulant medication classified as a thrombopoietin (TPO) receptor agonist. It contains the active ingredient Eltrombopag and is used to treat low platelet counts resulting from primary immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) or hepatitis C (HCV) infection. ITP is an autoimmune condition where the immune system mistakenly attacks and destroys platelets—cells that help with blood clotting and maintaining blood vessel integrity. Low platelet levels can lead to excessive bleeding and easy bruising. Additionally, this tablet is prescribed for adults suffering from severe aplastic anaemia, a serious condition in which the bone marrow fails to produce enough new blood cells.

Rebopag 25mg should not be used by individuals who are allergic to Eltrombopag or any of its components. Allergic reactions can range from mild to severe, with symptoms such as rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, or difficulty breathing. The tablet is contraindicated in patients with severe liver impairment or active liver disease, as it may cause hepatotoxicity, evident through elevated liver enzymes and bilirubin levels. Use in such individuals can further damage liver function, so caution is essential.

Your doctor may recommend regular eye examinations to check for cataracts and signs of bleeding in or around the retina (the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye). If you discontinue treatment, your platelet count may drop again within a few days, so your doctor will closely monitor your levels and discuss necessary precautions. A very high platelet count can increase the risk of blood clots, although clots may still form even with normal or low platelet levels. Your dosage will be carefully adjusted to maintain safe platelet levels.

Avoid taking this tablet with dairy products or calcium-rich drinks, as calcium can interfere with the drug’s absorption. Use effective contraception during treatment, and inform your doctor immediately if you become pregnant. Rebopag 25mg is not recommended for children under 1 year of age with ITP, nor for individuals under 18 with HCV-related low platelets or severe aplastic anaemia.

Inform your doctor about any other medications, supplements, or over-the-counter drugs you are taking, as interactions may occur.
