About

Mycofit 500mg Tablet is an immunosuppressive medication containing the active ingredient Mycophenolate mofetil. It falls under the category of inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase (IMPDH) inhibitors. This medicine is used to prevent organ rejection in patients who have undergone organ transplantation, such as kidney, heart, or liver transplants. It is typically prescribed as part of a combination therapy with other immunosuppressive drugs.

This medication is contraindicated during pregnancy due to its potential to cause birth defects and miscarriage. It should only be considered for use in pregnant women if no suitable alternatives are available and the benefits clearly outweigh the risks. Women of childbearing age are strongly advised to use effective contraception while taking this medication to avoid pregnancy. Live vaccines should not be administered during treatment with Mycofit 500mg Tablet, as it can reduce their effectiveness and increase the risk of infection. Blood donation is also discouraged during treatment and for at least six weeks after discontinuation to ensure the drug has been fully cleared from the body.

Mycofit 500mg Tablet should not be used by individuals who are allergic to the drug or any of its ingredients. Inform your doctor if you have any history of liver or heart disease before starting this medication. Since it suppresses the immune system, the risk of developing skin cancer may increase; therefore, patients should limit exposure to sunlight and ultraviolet (UV) rays. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience symptoms such as unexplained bruising, fever, persistent fatigue, dizziness, yellowing of the skin or eyes, vision problems, decreased urine output, or seizures.

As this medication may impact the developing immune system of an infant, it is not recommended during breastfeeding. In some cases, alternative treatments with a better safety profile for nursing mothers may be considered.
