About

Oncofluor Injection contains an antimetabolite chemotherapy agent, typically fluorouracil (5-FU), which interferes with DNA and RNA synthesis, thereby inhibiting cell growth and proliferation. This potent cytotoxic agent is primarily used in the treatment of various solid tumors, including colorectal, breast, gastric, and pancreatic cancers. Administered intravenously, 5-FU is a prodrug that is converted into active metabolites within the body. These metabolites, such as fluorodeoxyuridine monophosphate (FdUMP) and fluorouridine triphosphate (FUTP), disrupt DNA replication and repair by inhibiting thymidylate synthase and are incorporated into RNA, respectively. This dual mechanism leads to cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in rapidly dividing cancer cells. Its broad spectrum of activity makes it a cornerstone in many combination chemotherapy regimens, aiming to enhance efficacy, overcome resistance, and improve patient outcomes in advanced malignancies.
