About

OXIZIM 500 contains Cefuroxime, a second-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. It exerts its bactericidal action by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. Cefuroxime binds to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) within the bacterial cell wall, thereby preventing the cross-linking of peptidoglycan chains, which are essential for the structural integrity of the bacterial cell wall. This disruption leads to cell lysis and bacterial death. Cefuroxime is effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including many strains that produce beta-lactamase enzymes, which would otherwise inactivate some other antibiotics. Its broad spectrum of activity makes it suitable for treating various bacterial infections, particularly those affecting the respiratory tract, urinary tract, and skin. It is known for its good oral absorption and distribution into various body tissues.
