About

PENTANERV 100 contains Gabapentin, an anticonvulsant and neuropathic pain medication that is widely used for various neurological conditions. It is primarily prescribed to treat partial seizures in epilepsy, either alone or in combination with other antiepileptic drugs, and to manage neuropathic pain, such as postherpetic neuralgia (nerve pain following shingles) and diabetic neuropathy. While its precise mechanism of action is not fully elucidated, it is believed to exert its effects by modulating the activity of voltage-gated calcium channels in the nervous system. This action helps to reduce abnormal electrical activity in the brain and to dampen hypersensitive pain signals, providing significant relief for chronic nerve pain. It is not classified as a narcotic and offers a distinct mechanism of action compared to traditional pain relievers.

  • Treatment of partial seizures in epilepsy.
  • Management of postherpetic neuralgia.

  • Breastfeeding - Gabapentin passes into breast milk. Use with caution; consult a healthcare professional to assess potential risks to the infant.
  • Liver - Generally does not require dose adjustment in patients with liver impairment, as Gabapentin is not significantly metabolized by the liver.
  • Kidney - Requires significant dose adjustment in patients with kidney impairment, as Gabapentin is primarily excreted unchanged by the kidneys.
  • Lung - Use with caution in patients with respiratory depression or conditions that may be exacerbated by central nervous system depressants.
