About

Pulmocef CV 500 Tab is a combination antibiotic containing Cefuroxime, a second-generation cephalosporin, and Clavulanic Acid, a beta-lactamase inhibitor. Cefuroxime exerts its bactericidal action by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, making it effective against a broad spectrum of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. Clavulanic Acid enhances Cefuroxime's efficacy by inactivating beta-lactamase enzymes produced by resistant bacteria, which would otherwise degrade Cefuroxime. This combination is particularly useful for treating infections caused by beta-lactamase-producing strains, ensuring a wider and more potent antibacterial coverage. It is commonly prescribed for various bacterial infections, especially those affecting the respiratory tract.

Uses

  • Treatment of respiratory tract infections (e.g., bronchitis, pneumonia).
  • Management of urinary tract infections.
  • Therapy for skin and soft tissue infections.
  • Treatment of otitis media and sinusitis.
