Reglan Suspension, containing the active ingredient metoclopramide, is a potent prokinetic and antiemetic medication. Its primary mechanism of action involves enhancing the motility of the upper gastrointestinal tract by increasing the tone and amplitude of gastric contractions, relaxing the pyloric sphincter, and improving peristalsis in the duodenum and jejunum. This accelerates gastric emptying and reduces reflux. Furthermore, metoclopramide exerts its antiemetic effects by blocking dopamine D2 receptors in the chemoreceptor trigger zone (CTZ) in the brain, thereby preventing and treating nausea and vomiting.
