About
REGLAN TAB contains Metoclopramide, a dopamine D2 receptor antagonist that acts as a prokinetic agent and antiemetic. It works by increasing the tone and amplitude of gastric contractions, relaxing the pyloric sphincter, and increasing peristalsis in the duodenum and jejunum, thereby accelerating gastric emptying and intestinal transit. Additionally, it blocks dopamine receptors in the chemoreceptor trigger zone (CTZ) in the brain, which helps to reduce nausea and vomiting by preventing signals from reaching the vomiting center.
Metoclopramide is indicated for the treatment of various gastrointestinal motility disorders, including diabetic gastroparesis, and for the prevention and treatment of nausea and vomiting associated with chemotherapy, radiation therapy, or surgery. It is also used for symptomatic relief of acute and recurrent dyspepsia, providing relief from discomfort and improving digestive function.
