About
Rhoclone 300mcg Vial contains Rho(D) Immune Globulin, a sterile solution of IgG antibodies against the Rho(D) antigen. It is primarily used to prevent Rh sensitization in Rh-negative individuals who may be exposed to Rh-positive red blood cells, most commonly in Rh-negative pregnant women carrying an Rh-positive fetus. By binding to and clearing any fetal Rh-positive red blood cells that enter the maternal circulation, it prevents the mother's immune system from developing antibodies against the Rh factor, which could otherwise lead to hemolytic disease of the newborn in subsequent pregnancies.
It is also used after certain obstetric procedures, such as amniocentesis or chorionic villus sampling, after miscarriage, abortion, or ectopic pregnancy, or in cases of accidental Rh-positive blood exposure to an Rh-negative individual. This prophylactic measure is critical in ensuring the health of future Rh-positive offspring and is a cornerstone of modern obstetric care for Rh-negative mothers.
