About

Mupirocin is a topical antibiotic used to treat bacterial skin infections, including impetigo and secondary infected traumatic skin lesions. It is effective against a wide range of Gram-positive bacteria, particularly Staphylococcus aureus (including MRSA) and Streptococcus pyogenes. Mupirocin works by reversibly binding to bacterial isoleucyl-tRNA synthetase, thereby inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis.
