About

Akynzeo Injection is an anti-emetic medication that contains a fixed-dose combination of fosnetupitant and palonosetron. Fosnetupitant is a neurokinin-1 (NK-1) receptor antagonist, and palonosetron is a 5-HT3 receptor antagonist. This combination is used to prevent chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV) and may also be prescribed to manage postoperative nausea and vomiting, helping cancer patients better tolerate chemotherapy by reducing these uncomfortable side effects.

Common side effects of Akynzeo Injection may include hives, facial swelling, difficulty breathing, and chest pain. If these symptoms are bothersome or persistent, inform your healthcare provider. Patients with liver or kidney impairments should consult their physician, as dose adjustments may be needed.

There is a risk of serotonin syndrome when this medication is used in combination with other serotonergic drugs, such as antidepressants. Symptoms of serotonin syndrome include agitation, hallucinations, rapid heartbeat, fever, muscle stiffness, and impaired coordination. Be sure to inform your doctor about all medications you are currently taking.

The safety and effectiveness of Akynzeo Injection have not been established in pediatric patients, and it is primarily intended for use in adults. This medication is not safe during pregnancy, as it may harm the unborn baby. Its effect on breastfeeding women is unclear, so it is important to consult a doctor before use.
