About

Atorsave 10mg contains Atorvastatin, a widely used HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor, belonging to the statin class of medications. It functions by inhibiting the enzyme responsible for cholesterol synthesis in the liver, leading to a significant reduction in low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol, often referred to as "bad" cholesterol, and triglycerides. Atorvastatin also provides a modest increase in high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol, or "good" cholesterol. This comprehensive lipid-modifying action is crucial in preventing the accumulation of atherosclerotic plaque within the arteries, thereby reducing the risk of major cardiovascular events such as heart attacks and strokes. It is a key therapeutic agent for managing dyslipidemia and for both primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease.

Uses

  • Treatment of primary hypercholesterolemia.
  • Management of mixed dyslipidemia.
  • Prevention of major cardiovascular events in high-risk individuals.
  • Slowing the progression of atherosclerosis.
