About

BACTOCLAV 625 TAB is a powerful combination antibiotic comprising Amoxicillin and Clavulanic Acid, formulated to effectively treat a wide array of bacterial infections. Amoxicillin, a semi-synthetic penicillin-class antibiotic, exerts its bactericidal action by inhibiting the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall, leading to the disruption of cell integrity and subsequent bacterial death. It is active against a broad spectrum of Gram-positive and certain Gram-negative bacteria. Clavulanic Acid, a potent beta-lactamase inhibitor, is included to overcome bacterial resistance. It works by irreversibly binding to and inactivating beta-lactamase enzymes, which are produced by many resistant bacteria to degrade penicillin-type antibiotics. By protecting amoxicillin from enzymatic hydrolysis, clavulanic acid significantly extends the antibacterial spectrum of the combination, making it highly effective against infections caused by beta-lactamase-producing strains, particularly in respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and otitis media. This synergistic approach ensures enhanced efficacy against resistant pathogens.
