About

Besros 20 mg tablets contain Rosuvastatin, a potent HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor, commonly known as a statin. This medication works by blocking the enzyme HMG-CoA reductase, which is crucial for cholesterol synthesis in the liver. By inhibiting this enzyme, Rosuvastatin significantly reduces the production of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), often referred to as 'bad' cholesterol, and triglycerides. It also has a beneficial effect on increasing high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), or 'good' cholesterol.

Rosuvastatin is highly effective in lowering lipid levels and is used for both primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular diseases. It helps to stabilize atherosclerotic plaques, reduce inflammation, and improve endothelial function, thereby lowering the risk of heart attacks, strokes, and other cardiovascular events. Regular monitoring of lipid profiles and liver function tests is recommended during treatment to ensure efficacy and safety.

Uses

  • Treatment of primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia.
  • Reduction of elevated LDL-C, total cholesterol, and triglycerides.
  • Increase of HDL-C levels.
