About
The function of the Dora B‑14P Dialyzer is to act as an artificial kidney during hemodialysis for patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) or acute kidney injury.
Uses
It is primarily used for:
1. Removal of waste products:
Filters out harmful substances like urea, creatinine, and uric acid from the blood that accumulate due to kidney failure.
2. Balancing of fluids and electrolytes:
Helps maintain proper levels of sodium, potassium, calcium, and fluid volume in the body.
3. Removal of excess fluid (ultrafiltration):
By creating a pressure gradient across the membrane, it removes extra water from the blood.
4. Used as a semi-permeable barrier:
Allows the passage of toxins and small molecules while retaining larger proteins like albumin and blood cells.
5. Biocompatibility and safety:
Its polyethersulfone (PES) membrane is biocompatible, reducing inflammatory responses and clotting during dialysis.
