About

ESOFAG 40 TAB contains Esomeprazole 40mg, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that effectively reduces the production of stomach acid. As the S-isomer of omeprazole, it works by irreversibly binding to the H+/K+-ATPase enzyme system, also known as the proton pump, located in the secretory canaliculi of the gastric parietal cells. This action inhibits the final step in acid production, leading to a profound and long-lasting decrease in gastric acid secretion. Esomeprazole 40mg is typically prescribed for conditions requiring significant acid suppression, such as severe gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), healing of erosive esophagitis, and management of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Its sustained acid control promotes the healing of esophageal damage and provides effective relief from acid-related symptoms like heartburn and regurgitation.
