About
ESOFAG D CAP is a combination medication containing Esomeprazole and Domperidone. Esomeprazole is a potent proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that works by irreversibly blocking the H+/K+-ATPase enzyme system in gastric parietal cells, leading to a significant reduction in gastric acid secretion. Domperidone acts primarily as a dopamine receptor antagonist, increasing gastrointestinal motility and tone of the lower esophageal sphincter, which helps in faster gastric emptying and reduces reflux. It also possesses antiemetic properties by blocking dopamine receptors in the chemoreceptor trigger zone. This combination is particularly effective in managing gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and dyspepsia, especially when symptoms include nausea, vomiting, or delayed gastric emptying, providing comprehensive relief from acid reflux and associated discomfort by both reducing acid and improving gut movement.
