About

FEXANTO ER-40 is an extended-release proton pump inhibitor (PPI) designed to reduce the production of stomach acid. It works by irreversibly binding to the H+/K+-ATPase enzyme system, commonly known as the proton pump, located in the parietal cells of the stomach lining. This action effectively blocks the final step in acid secretion, leading to a significant and prolonged reduction in gastric acid levels. The extended-release formulation ensures a sustained therapeutic effect, providing relief from symptoms associated with excessive acid production.

It is primarily used for conditions such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcers, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, promoting healing and preventing complications from acid erosion. Its prolonged action makes it suitable for once-daily dosing, enhancing patient compliance and symptom control.

Uses

  • Treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
  • Healing of erosive esophagitis.
  • Management of peptic ulcers (gastric and duodenal).
