About

HAPAKIND 200 contains Ursodeoxycholic Acid (UDCA), a naturally occurring bile acid that is used in the treatment of various liver and gallbladder conditions. UDCA works by several mechanisms to exert its therapeutic effects. Firstly, it alters the composition of bile, reducing the cholesterol saturation and promoting the dissolution of cholesterol gallstones. Secondly, it protects liver cells from damage by replacing more toxic bile acids with itself, thereby reducing their harmful effects on hepatocytes and cholangiocytes. Thirdly, UDCA has immunomodulatory properties, which can be beneficial in cholestatic liver diseases by reducing inflammation and fibrosis.

Its primary role is in improving bile flow and protecting liver cells from the cytotoxic effects of hydrophobic bile acids that accumulate in cholestatic conditions. By increasing the hydrophilicity of the bile acid pool, UDCA helps to stabilize cell membranes and reduce oxidative stress. It is well-absorbed orally and undergoes extensive enterohepatic recirculation, allowing it to reach the liver in therapeutic concentrations. This makes HAPAKIND 200 an effective treatment for conditions like primary biliary cholangitis and for dissolving certain types of gallstones, improving liver function and patient outcomes.
